Will I be sentenced to jail?

Authored by Wendy Witt, Esq.

We don't know.

You absolutely must consult with a criminal defense attorney, disclose all the facts, and authorize your attorney to investigate on your behalf. Your attorney will let you know if there is a chance of jail time.

In addition, keep in mind:

  • Jail time is a potential penalty for many, but not all, crimes.
  • A plea bargain may eliminate or reduce jail time.
  • Just because you've been arrested doesn't mean you'll be convicted.
